Open Spaces Spiritual Direction

"He brought me out to wide-open spaces; he pulled me out safe because he is pleased with me." Psalm 18:19

God is ready to meet with you.

Spiritual direction is an invitation to draw near, to reflect, to listen. It is a holy pause, a sacred space. Take one hour of your month to step away from the noise, to quiet your heart, and to become aware of God's presence in your life. In this time, you are invited to explore where God is moving, how He is speaking, and what He might be inviting you into. It’s not about fixing or figuring things out—it’s about being fully present to your soul and to the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit.

What to expect

1. A Safe, Confidential Space

  • The spiritual director provides a welcoming, non-judgmental environment.

  • Everything shared is held in strict confidence.

2. Prayerful Atmosphere

  • Sessions often begin and end with prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide the conversation.

  • Silence may be used to listen for God’s presence together.

3. Open Conversation

  • You’ll share what’s on your heart: joys, struggles, doubts, prayer experiences, or any area where you seek God’s guidance.

  • The director listens deeply, asking reflective questions to help you notice God’s movement.

4. Gentle Guidance, Not Advice-Giving

  • The director isn’t there to tell you what to do but to help you discern God’s invitation in your life.

  • They might suggest spiritual practices, scripture, or reflection exercises tailored to you.

5. Rhythm and Consistency

  • Sessions are usually monthly and last about an hour.

  • The ongoing relationship allows for deeper exploration over time.

6. Your Role

  • Be honest and open, even when it feels messy.

  • Bring whatever feels significant—big or small.

  • Remain attentive to how God is working between sessions.

“God is one step beyond the fences we build around ourselves to keep ourselves safe.”
